Wow, did I ever get a nasty virus!!
by John on Feb.27, 2011, under Computing
Yikes! Well, I went to my computer a few days ago and found it had rebooted and was waiting for me to sign in. I thought that was odd as the power hadn’t gone out but, what ever,I signed in, only to find my computer was now fd. I mean big time Fd!! The worst I have ever seen! I unplugged it from the Internet right away and am quite pissed off right now. What ever I have will not even let me install the programs to be rid of this thing. I’ve even renamed the programs but this thing is smart! So, what to do? First, thanks to Steph for this old IBM “ThinkPad”! I actually use it all the time and right now it’s a life saver! My main machine is not dead, but it will take 5 to 10 minutes to open a file or program. I need to back everything up asap. I usualy do back up stuff to a disk, but at this point what’s backed up and what isn’t is a good question. I figure I should backup everything from scratch. Time for an external hard drive. Now, let me say I do not like shopping at Staples because I find the one up here doesn’t usually have what I’m looking for. For some reason, if they do not have what’s in the sales flier, they are happy to order it in for yea, as long as you pay up front. What? I know. I was like, “Dude, it’s your sales flier, why do I have to pay up front?” I just left that day. Today friends, was a door crasher! I was ready! I pounded my elbows against wooden beams for 3 days to toughen them up. I did the Steven Segal acupuncture with the incense burning on the ends of the needles! I even refused to make love to my wife in case it made me a tad weeker! My goal was the HP 2 TB “Simple Save” hard drive for $99.00!! I know, I knew it would be a battle but I trained hard that week! I figured they open at ten, so I’ll get there at 8! After waking up at 9:45 and racing to the mall, I was happy there were only 200 people ahead of me. Strangely, it was ok though, it wasn’t like Walmart. When I got there they gave me a coupon for the HP “Simple Save”, then I got in line and sure enough, received the “Simple save”! I even got the 16 gig usb for 12 bucks! My point here is that I didn’t need any elbows, everything was quite organized, and for the first time I actually enjoyed shopping at Staples. BTW, as I type this, the hard drive is 44% done backing up my files. Hope I’ll have things running again in a couple of days! K see ya

Helmets for mall walkers!
by John on Feb.22, 2011, under Views and News
Yes it’s time. Clearly we all need to wear helmets no matter what we are doing now! If you are playing in the snow, you need a helmet. To allow your child to feel the wind in his or her hair is now irresponsible. I experienced a scary situation myself a week ago. We went tobogganing and must have been flying down the hill at 20 km without helmets! We hit a snowy bump and flew off the toboggan! Well you can just imagine how scary that was! The boy and I had to actually stand up after, and whisk the snow off ourselves with our mittens!
No one should know what the wind in your hair feels like anymore. Children clearly should never feel this. It has become to dangerous too run, have snowball fights and climb trees. I’ve told my mom that she needs to wear one while doing laps around the mall now. In our lifetime, I’m sure we’ll all be wearing them when driving or walking fast! Lets not teach kids to be careful. Lets just put helmets on them and say “way ya go”. Yup, your a good parent. Your kids will never know they could be hurt.
Canadian Justice Joke
by John on Feb.22, 2011, under Rants
Hey, all you people that like killing other Canadians, feel free to enjoy your hobby! This countries justice system is a disgrace and has been since I can remember. What a Joke. Here yea go everyone, your judges and justice system working hard for the average Canadian… Nothing like killing a young lady, and getting a 25 year sentance right! Oh, not to worry, after a few years you can get a UNESCORTED DAY PASS! http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2011/02/22/ottawa-crawford-arrested.html
Yup, we know you were convicted, but it’s ok, you can still get out and hit the bars. You know, meet some women that have no idea who you are. Fannnntastic!! Man, who’s the bad guy eh, you the killer or the Canadian justice system? That’s a tough one! Guess I need to think about that for a few years. Probably longer than you’ll be in jail!
